Interested in fostering? Please read below and fill out our form at the bottom of this page. Once we receive your application, we will reach out to let you know if there is a good match with a fantastic dog in need. Please know it may take 5 – 7 business days to receive a reply. We do favor those whom have prior experience dealing with German Shepherds or Malinois.

USGSD Society has no physical shelter location. We are entirely foster home based. We rely on people like you to open your home to continue to save lives and find amazing dogs their forever homes. Our foster homes provide a much-needed temporary home for dogs who aren’t quite ready to be adopted! They might be an orphaned puppy, a nursing momma, a dog waiting for their spay or neuter appointment or a shy dog who needs a quiet safe place to decompress and get more comfortable with people.
What is required of our fosters?! To love and adore your foster dog as much as we do. We expect foster families to love and take care of their foster dog just like they would their own dog – but we provide much of the supplies! We cover expenses including any veterinary care, medications, etc. We also provide our fosters with food, a collar and lead!

What to expect as a foster?! It is important to know that when a dog comes in, their world is in turmoil. They are often petrified, scared, and trying to make sense of what is happening. They will need time to decompress, and they will need fosters willing to show them nothing but patience, love and understanding. Amazing animals take time, patience and loads of love to get them ready to be adopted.
Please Note:
- We are not able to reimburse for destruction of any property in your home that came about as a result of a foster dog.
- We reserve the right to remove a foster dog from your property at any time, for any reason.
- If you wish to adopt your foster dog, you must pay their adoption fee.
