Adoptables

At the USGSD Society, we’re all about playing matchmaker between our amazing German Shepherds and Malinois and the perfect forever homes! Our goal? To pair each dog’s unique needs and personality with an adopter who’s just the right fit. That’s why we don’t do first-come, first-served adoptions—we take the time to get it right. If a certain pup isn’t the best match for you, no worries! We’ve always got new tail-waggers coming in, and we’d love to give you a bark when the perfect one prances into our lives.

Check out our current adoptable dogs below! Each description spills the kibble on their personality and traits, so you can sniff out the one that’ll fit your home like a well-chewed bone. Adoption fees are $250, which covers up-to-date shots, spay/neuter, a leash and collar, and even a favorite toy they’ve been pawing at. (Active duty & retired military and first responders receive a 50% discount).

Not ready to adopt? No problem! We’re grateful for your interest in our shepherd and Malinois pals. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every donation you toss our way is tax-deductible—helping us keep those tails wagging!

Micha (Mee-ka) – 252
  • Age: Est. 3 Years
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Not real sure. We think she’s 50% German Shepherd and 50% Deer?
  • Difficulty (1-5): 1 – Very shy at first but willing to trust
  • Energy (1-5): 2 – Recommend occasional to regular walks
Micha’s Tale: Micha (pronounced Mee-ka), affectionately nicknamed Micha Mouse for her charming white paws, was rescued from the streets of West Phoenix. Neighbors shared that she’d been fending for herself for at least five weeks during the scorching summer before we were alerted. Her past remains a mystery, but it’s clear she faced tough times—earning her trust took nearly a year of patient, dedicated effort. Micha is still quite shy and may need extra time to feel secure with new people, but her gentle spirit is well worth the wait.

Thanks to visits to the local dog park, Micha has started to come out of her shell, revealing a joyful side that lights up with time and care. This happy girl is versatile—she’s content as the only dog or alongside canine companions. Great with kids and past her puppy years, Micha’s energy is calm and easygoing. While she’s reserved around people at first, her sweetness shines through once she feels safe.

Micha has an abundance of love to offer and would be a wonderful fit for a patient family ready to give her the time she needs to blossom. If you’re looking for a loyal, tender-hearted companion, Micha might just be your perfect match.

Sadie (Say-dee) – 253
  • Age: Est. 6 Years
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: German Shepherd
  • Difficulty (1-5): 4 – Prior shepherd experience recommended
  • Energy (1-5): 2 – Recommend occasional to regular walks
Sadie’s Tale: Sadie (pronounced Say-dee) came to us after being found wandering the streets by a kind soul. Despite her circumstances, it was clear she’d been well-loved—her excellent health and vibrant spirit shone through. After a month with no one claiming her, Sadie is ready to find her forever home. This sweet girl has a heart full of love and years of joy to share with a new family.

Sadie’s personality sparkles when she’s excited, and she can get a bit vocal and lively in those moments. Thanks to socialization training, she’s made great strides and continues to improve. She thrives best as the only dog in the home, though she gets along fine with our other misfits here. Her standout quality? The unwavering love and loyalty she offers once she bonds with you. Sadie will be your shadow, happily trailing you around the house and settling by your feet—ensuring you’re never alone.

A true adventurer, Sadie loves car rides (she’ll claim the front passenger seat, so keep it open for her!) and enjoys walks, where she’s well-mannered and eager to explore. Dog parks aren’t her scene—she’d rather soak up quality time with her people than mingle with other pups. Because she can be vocal and animated around unfamiliar dogs, we recommend her new family have experience with shepherds, as ongoing socialization will be key to her success.

Sadie’s ready to bring her devotion and charm to a home that’s eager to welcome her. Could that be yours?

Jaxar (Jak-ar) – 254
  • Age: Est. 3 Years
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: German Shepherd
  • Difficulty (1-5): 4 – Prior shepherd experience recommended
  • Energy (1-5): 4 – Recommend regular walks / hikes & one on one play time
Jaxar’s Tale: Jaxar (pronounced Jak-er), or simply Jax to his friends, was rescued from a dog park where he and another dog were heartlessly abandoned. Despite this rough chapter, Jax was in great health and clearly well-cared-for before being left behind. This striking boy embodies the classic German Shepherd personality—loyal, intelligent, and impeccably well-mannered.

At home, Jax gets along with our other misfits but would likely thrive most as the only dog or paired with a larger canine companion. When you walk through the door, expect a burst of excitement as Jax showers you with affection, eager to welcome you back. Otherwise, he’s a calm presence around the house, happy to relax by your side. Deeply devoted to those he bonds with, Jax is always ready to protect his family with a watchful eye.

While dog parks aren’t his favorite—he’d much rather chase a ball with his human—Jax loves his walks and approaches them with enthusiasm. Due to his protective instincts, it’s best to keep him on a short leash and stay mindful of strangers approaching. This trait is why we’re seeking a family with prior shepherd experience to provide the guidance Jax needs to shine. With your continued support, this beautiful boy will be an incredible companion, full of love and loyalty. Could Jax be the perfect addition to your home?

  • Age: Est. 1 Year
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: German Shepherd
  • Difficulty (1-5): 3 – Listens well to commands
  • Energy (1-5): 3 – Recommend regular walks / hikes

Gauge’s Tale: Meet Gauge, a spirited German Shepherd puppy who joined our rescue after being surrendered by her previous family. Bursting with the playful energy typical of her breed, Gauge loves to romp and can be a bit assertive in her enthusiasm. Yet, she balances this liveliness with a gentle side, happily snuggling up for quiet moments at the end of the day. With continued training, her vibrant energy can be channeled into rewarding activities, enhancing her already charming personality. Ideal for an active family or a dynamic retired household, Gauge is eager to share her zest for life and loyal companionship. Are you ready to help this delightful pup shine?

Athos – 261
  • Age: Est. 1 Year
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: German Shepherd
  • Difficulty (1-5): 2 – Listens well to commands
  • Energy (1-5): 2 – Recommend regular walks / hikes

Meet Athos, one of the “Three Musketeers” alongside her siblings Aramis and Porthos, rescued from the desert by a kind-hearted Samaritan. Found in good health but undernourished, Athos has blossomed in a safe environment. This trio of quick learners thrives at the dog park, eagerly greeting people and dogs alike with warmth and friendliness, especially charming babies, children, and adults. Athos often prefers mingling with humans over playing with other dogs.

At just 1 year of age, Athos shines as the affectionate “baby sister” of the group. She greets everyone with boundless enthusiasm, showering them with kisses and cuddles. Her calm demeanor makes her a perfect companion, whether she’s curling up at your feet or snuggling close at bedtime. Athos gets along beautifully with people of all ages and quickly befriends other dogs.

Despite a challenging start, Athos is ready to share her endless love and loyalty. She’s an ideal match for any family seeking a devoted, affectionate companion to brighten their days.

Aramis- 262
  • Age: Est. 1 Year
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: German Shepherd
  • Difficulty (1-5): 2 – Listens well to commands
  • Energy (1-5): 2 – Recommend regular walks / hikes

Meet Aramis, one of the “Three Musketeers” alongside her siblings Athos and Porthos, rescued from the desert by a compassionate Samaritan. Found healthy but undernourished, Aramis has thrived in a nurturing environment. This trio of quick learners lights up the dog park, warmly greeting people and dogs with boundless friendliness, charming everyone from babies to adults. Aramis, like her siblings, often enjoys connecting with humans more than playing with other dogs.

At just 1 year old, Aramis radiates as the caring “big sister” of the group. She approaches everyone with gentle enthusiasm, spreading kindness and joy with every interaction. Her calm and loving nature makes her an ideal companion, whether she’s curled up at your feet or nestled at the foot of your bed (don’t be surprised if she sneaks onto your pillow by morning!). Aramis bonds effortlessly with people of all ages and quickly makes friends with other dogs.

Despite her tough beginnings, Aramis is eager to share her unwavering love and loyalty. She’s a perfect fit for any family seeking a devoted, heartwarming companion to fill their home with joy.

Porthos- 263
  • Age: Est. 1 Year
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: German Shepherd
  • Difficulty (1-5): 2 – Listens well to commands
  • Energy (1-5): 1 – Recommend regular walks

Meet Porthos, a vibrant member of the “Three Musketeers” alongside his siblings Athos and Aramis, rescued from the desert by a kind-hearted Samaritan. Found healthy but underfed, Porthos, with his striking black-and-tan coat, has flourished in a caring environment. This trio of quick learners brings energy to the dog park, eagerly greeting people and dogs with infectious friendliness, charming babies, children, and adults alike. Porthos, with his soulful brown eyes, often prefers bonding with humans over romping with other dogs.

At just 1 year old, Porthos shines as the loving “big brother” of the group. His glossy fur gleams as he approaches everyone with gentle enthusiasm, spreading warmth and joy. His calm, affectionate nature makes him a perfect companion, whether he’s curled up at your feet under the golden afternoon sun or settling into a cozy corner of your bedroom under moonlit shadows. Porthos connects effortlessly with people of all ages and quickly befriends other dogs with his playful, copper-hued tail wags.

Porthos is a “special needs” companion due to a birth defect where his front left paw angles outward (see his photo). His chestnut-brown limb has adapted beautifully, and it doesn’t hinder his mobility. He continues to run, jump, and play like any other dog! However, he thrives best in a home with light to moderate activity. He loves leisurely walks (kept under a mile) through green parks and exploring the dog park’s earthy paths. Porthos isn’t suited for long runs or rugged hikes, and a single-story home with soft, grassy spaces would be ideal for his comfort.

Despite his challenging start, Porthos, with his warm, russet-tinged spirit, is ready to share boundless love and loyalty. He’s the perfect match for a family seeking a devoted, heartwarming companion to fill their home with vibrant joy.

If you are interested in any of the dogs available for adoption, please click the link below to fill out an adoption form. Please remember the name and number of the dog you are interested in. If selected, adoptions take place every Saturday.

Our adoption process is structured in phases to ensure a good match. It begins with a meet-and-greet in a neutral setting, such as a nearby park, followed by a home introduction. If you choose to proceed, you can try a “sleep-over” for a few days to assess compatibility. Within the first 30 days, if the adoption isn’t working out, you may return the dog to our shelter for a full refund, minus a $30 processing fee. After 30 days, returns are still accepted, but no refund will be provided, though the processing fee will be waived.
